Meet the Dealer: John Schaller
Dealer Profile: John Schaller, owner of House of Harley-Davidson, 6221 W. Layton Ave., Milwaukee, Wis.
In John Schaller’s former life he was the assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee. His days were spent trying to appease angry people. 15 years ago, when he got sick of fighting with people, he made the switch to a life that involved what he loved--bikes and the open road. Now as the owner of House of Harley, instead of only seeing people in the heat of arguments, people come to see him when they’re happy.
We asked John to share what it is about H-D that makes him tick...
When was your first ride?
JS: “I was fifteen years old, it was a neighbor’s Bridgestone 125 on a country road in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I secretly rode that bike thinking my parents never knew of my summer escapades. Years later, I found out my mother knew all along.”
What’s been your favorite ride?
JS: “Any trip to the west coast. I’ve been out there a couple times and there’s nothing like being on a two-lane road as the sun rises. It’s just me, my wife and the road. But really, I love any place with small roads and a view of the changing landscape, that can be right here in Wisconsin.”
What’s your favorite bike-themed movie?
JS: Wild Bunch (1969) and Wild Hogs (2007).
Bike maintenance tip:
JS: “Just don’t take the bikes out ‘til the snow melts and the salt has washed away.”
So, now’s the time to jump on your rides friends. April showers has brought May flowers and clean roads for us all!
